| Review (Summary): "Due to the continuing success of the Canon's Powershot Digital ELPH series, they have brought you a couple new models for 2008, one being the SD790 IS. Sporting a 10-megapixel imaging sensor, 3" PureColor II LCD screen, face detection and motion detection technologies as well as optical image stabilization, make this one of the most full-featured Digital ELPH's yet. ...
... The Canon PowerShot SD790 IS is a powerful and easy to use camera wrapped up in an "ultra- compact" body. The combination of quality and performance is nicely complimented by the 10-megapixel imaging sensor and optical image stabilization. ..." |

| Review (Summary): "The Canon PowerShot SD790 IS Digital ELPH ($349) is an ultra-compact camera features a 10 Megapixel CCD, 3X optical zoom lens, image stabilization, and a large 3-inch LCD display. It's the follow-up to the PowerShot SD750, which was introduced in February of 2007. The biggest changes on the SD790 are the higher resolution CCD, and the addition of optical image stabilization ...
... It took well-exposed photos with accurate, vivid colors. Images are nice and sharp, save for the corners, where there is often blurring (especially at wide-angle). I saw some vignetting in one or two shots, as well. In good light, the camera keeps noise under control until you pass ISO 400, with even the ISO 800 remaining usable for small prints. ..." |

| Review (Summary): "ith its all-metal build and what Canon is describing as a 'chiseled' faceplate, there's no denying that the new Digital IXUS 90 IS (SD790 IS in the U.S.), while physically larger than the recently-announced IXUS 80 IS (SD770 IS in the U.S.), continues the range's tradition of stylish, good-looking pocket cameras. That much is expected. Instead of the IXUS 80's eight megapixel headline specification married to a 2.5-inch rear LCD however, the Canon Digital IXUS 90 IS features 10 megapixels and a larger 3-inch LCD with 15 levels of brightness adjustment, though the resolution remains at its little brother's 230k pixels.

For me, image noise could be better tackled and the OIS made yet more effective, meaning there are snapshot cameras out there delivering better images under a wider variety of conditions – the latest 10 megapixel Lumix models from Panasonic spring to mind. That said, the Canon Digital IXUS 90 IS exudes slightly more class when it comes to overall build and design, and at the end of the day it feels that you really are getting what you're paying for, ..." |
